GAN 16 Maglev Max Aqualis 3x3

GAN 16 Maglev Max Aqualis is the 2026 summer limited edition of GAN's flagship 3x3 cube. Inside, it has the same mechanism as the standard GAN 16 Maglev Max: MagLev, core magnets and 72 adjustment combinations. What changes is the look. This magnetic cube has a pearlescent, iridescent shell in shades of pink and purple, with transparent pink internal parts. The limited edition comes in one colour version only (Pink).

How it turns

The Max is very fast and has strong auto-alignment. GAN rates it at 40 degrees (the standard GAN 16 Maglev is rated at 35 degrees). Reviewers point out that after the changes to MagLev, turning feels more linear and less "bubbly" than on the GAN 14 and 15. They also praise the corner cutting, which works even when your turns are not precise. The large number of magnets makes the cube stable and lets it snap layers into place on its own. Because of that, however, it is heavier than the light GAN 15. If you prefer a more controllable feel, you may need some time to set the cube up, or a thicker lube to slow it down a little.

Magnets and adjustment

• 136 magnets, including corner-to-core magnets as well as magnets in the centres and in the edge feet, which further stabilise the middle layer.
• MagLev, meaning magnets instead of traditional springs: less friction and a more consistent turning feel.

Aqualis or the regular Max?

The versions differ only in appearance. The pearlescent finish does not change how the cube turns. Aqualis is the choice for cubers who want a flagship GAN in a colour scheme not available in the standard lineup, as well as for collectors. The package includes Aqualis-themed extras: a themed box, stickers, an ID card and a poster.

Who is it for?

For intermediate cubers and those starting to compete who are happy to spend some time on setup. For a first cube, a cheaper magnetic model is enough. The extensive adjustment options really pay off once you know what kind of feel you are looking for.
