GAN 16 Maglev MaxL UV 3x3

The MaxL is an enlarged version of the flagship GAN 16 Maglev Max. It shares the Max's magnet system, MagLev and adjustment options. What changes is the size: the GAN 16 Maglev MaxL UV measures 57 mm instead of the standard 56 mm. This 3x3 cube has a UV coating and is available in our shop in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

How it turns

The GAN 16 Max platform is very fast right out of the box. Users describe the feel as smooth and airy, with a clearly tactile "snap" as the layers click into place. GAN's hard plastic also gives it the typical, slightly clicky sound. Strong magnetic positioning helps the layers settle during fast turning. Some people find the cube too fast or slippery at first and slow it down with a thicker lube. Corner cutting is rated well in most reviews, although a few less precise turners expected more.

The extra millimetre means more cube in your hand. The MaxL usually suits people with larger hands or those used to 57 mm cubes. If you have smaller hands, the 56 mm Max may be more comfortable.

Magnets, MagLev and adjustment

• 136 magnets in a layout GAN calls the Celestial Magnetic Network. It includes Core Magnets, ring magnets and additional magnets in the centers and edge feet. The regular GAN 16 Maglev has 76.
• N52 grade magnets, responsible for strong, stable layer guidance.
• MagLev - repelling magnets instead of springs. Less friction and no springy feel.
• Magnetic GES: 6 center travel levels and 12 magnetic tension levels, giving 72 setting combinations. You adjust them with the included tool.
• 8 interchangeable magnet bars included let you change the magnet strength.

MaxL, Max or the regular GAN 16 Maglev?

The Max and MaxL have the same magnet and adjustment system. They differ in size, so your choice comes down mainly to which cube fits your hand better. The regular GAN 16 Maglev has noticeably fewer magnets, so its layers have weaker magnetic guidance.

Who is it for?

For speedcubers who want a flagship GAN with strong magnetic layer guidance but find 56 mm a little too small. The cube is fast and offers lots of adjustment options, so people who know what setup they are looking for will get the most out of it. Beginners can solve on it without any problems too, but they won't use most of its potential.
