GAN 356 ME UV 10th Anniversary

GAN released this edition to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the GANCUBE brand. The GAN 356 ME UV 10th Anniversary is a mid-range 3x3 magnetic cube. Inside, it has the same mechanism as the regular 356 ME UV. What sets it apart is the look and the bundle: the pieces are made of transparent, coloured plastic, so you can see the magnets and the inside of the cube. On top of that, you get a pouch and packaging in the 10 Years style.

How it turns

The 356 ME series is known more for control than for top speed. Turning is smooth and light, and corner cutting is good enough for relaxed speedsolving, even when your moves are less precise. Some users find the cube slower than current flagships and report popping at looser settings. It's best to start with medium tension and adjust it gradually. The magnets clearly help the layers snap into place, but they aren't strong enough to make the cube heavy to turn.

Magnets and GES Pro+ adjustment

• 48 magnets in Turbo Magnet Capsule 2.0 capsules. Magnet strength is not adjustable.
• GES Pro+: 4 elasticity levels (spring strength) and 3 axle distance settings (center travel). Together, that gives you 12 combinations. The settings are numbered, so it's easy to set all faces the same way.
• Wing-shaped Core 2.0 and classic springs, no MagLev.
• Honeycomb contact surfaces keep lube in the mechanism for longer.

10th Anniversary vs. the regular 356 ME UV

The mechanism and feel are the same as in the standard 356 ME UV, so both versions turn exactly alike. This edition features transparent plastic with a UV coating, which gives a glossy surface and better grip, plus extras for the 10th anniversary. If you just want a cube for practice, the regular 356 ME is all you need. The anniversary version makes sense if you collect special GAN editions or are looking for a cube as a gift.

Who is it for?

This cube is a great fit if you're moving from your first cube to a magnetic 3x3 with adjustment and want to try out the GES system. It also makes a good gift for a young cuber and an interesting item for GAN collectors. If you're looking for a very fast cube with core magnets or MagLev, you should choose a more expensive model.
