GAN 460 M 4x4 V2 UV

The first GAN 460 M came out in 2018. The second generation arrived in 2025, seven years later. The GAN 460 M 4x4 V2 UV is a magnetic 4x4 cube with a new mechanism. It has 160 magnets, a dual track design and a tighter fit between the pieces. It is also noticeably lighter than its predecessor, weighing about 110 g. This version has a glossy UV coating and comes in stickerless bright colours.

Mechanism and magnets

• 160 magnets in the outer, middle and inner layers and in the core. This matters on a 4x4, because the magnets also hold the inner layers, which tend to drift out of place on non-magnetic cubes.
• Dual track design, intended to improve stability and reduce popping.
• Double-layer piece design: Xmas-tree shaped edges, double corner stalks and widened outer layers that help the cube keep its shape.
• Improved magnetic capsules, transparent so you can see how the magnets are placed.
• Textured interior that helps the lube spread more evenly.

How it turns

The 460 M V2 is fast, and the layers clearly "click" into place. During fast turning and parity you have to watch the inner layers less. User opinions are not unanimous, though. Some praise its stability and precision. Others say the cube can be less forgiving and catches lockups more often on inaccurate turns than some competing 4x4s. If you prefer a very loose, forgiving feel, keep this in mind.

UV, Frosted or SP?

The GAN 460 M V2 is available in several versions. The UV and Frosted versions share the same mechanism with 160 magnets. UV has a glossy, very grippy surface, while Frosted has matte plastic with medium grip. The cheaper SP version has fewer magnets, so it is a good choice on a smaller budget.

Who is it for?

For people who solve 4x4 against the clock and want a light, strongly magnetic cube with clear layer alignment. It also works well as an upgrade after your first, cheaper 4x4. For a child just starting out, a simpler magnetic model is usually enough.
