GAN GES v3: interchangeable nuts for tension adjustment

GAN GES v3 is a set of spare GES (GAN Elasticity System) nuts. You use them to change the spring tension in GAN cubes. The package contains three sets of nuts: green, blue and purple, plus a plastic tool for fitting and removing them. The set comes in handy when the original nuts have gone missing, your cube arrived without a full set, or you want to try a different setting from the one in your cube.

How GES nuts work

Each nut colour corresponds to a specific spring tension. You don't need to turn screws by feel or count rotations. Just swap the nuts for a different colour and all the faces get the same setting. According to distributors and cubers' feedback, of these three purple gives the loosest, fastest setup, blue sits in the middle, and green holds the layers the tightest. The cube is then slower but more stable and controllable, and overshooting happens less often. There is no single best colour. Some people prefer loose turning, while others choose green for control at high TPS. The easiest way to decide is to try each set on your own cube.

GES v3 is a newer version of the nuts, wider than previous generations. According to descriptions, the spring works more smoothly on them.

GAN changes the GES system every few years, and nuts from different generations are not always compatible. Before buying, make sure your model is on the list. Don't confuse the 354 M with the 356 M – they are two different cubes.
