List of products by manufacturer Lee

Lee handcrafts shape mods: puzzles built on standard 2x2, 4x4, Skewb or Square-1 mechanisms with 3D-printed pieces. The range includes the Fisher, Windmill, Axis, Ghost and Mirror series, as well as body-shift puzzles. A great pick for anyone who can already solve a regular cube, and for collectors.

The Lee brand covers shape mods: puzzles built on a standard mechanism (2x2, 4x4, Skewb, Square-1 and others) with 3D-printed pieces attached to it. Inside, a familiar mechanism does the work, but the outer shape changes how you solve it: the pieces are no longer cubes, and after a turn the layers change the shape of the whole puzzle. Lee cubes are collector's puzzles and brain teasers. They are not designed for timed speedcubing.

Lee shape mods: how they differ from regular cubes

Lee makes his puzzles by hand and in small batches, so TPS and corner cutting are not the priority. What matters is the shape idea and how challenging the solve is. Many models have the same sticker colour on every face. You then solve the cube by shape, not by colour. This is how the Ghost and Mirror versions work. Before you buy, keep in mind that dimensions and weight vary a lot from model to model. Mods built on larger mechanisms are noticeably bigger and heavier than a standard cube.

Key series

  • 2x2 family: Fisher, Fisher v2, Windmill, Axis and their Ghost and Crazy versions. The regular Lee 2x2 Fisher Cube is the gentlest way to get started. The Windmill and Axis variants change shape more as you turn them, while the Ghost and Crazy versions are noticeably harder.

  • Larger cubes: Lee 4x4 Ghost Cube, Lee 4x4 Double-Fisher Cube and Lee Mirror Super 4x4. The last one is built on a 7x7 mechanism and some of its moves are blocked (bandaged) right from the start, so scrambling it properly takes some effort.

  • Body-shift puzzles: the Lee SQ2 body-shift cube and cylinder, based on the Square-1 mechanism. The middle-layer cut runs exactly through the centre of the puzzle, rather than being offset as in the classic Square-1.

  • Pyraminxes and unusual shapes: Lee 5-Sides Pyraminx (3x3, Fisher and Windmill versions), Lee Three-Axis Pyramid Cube, Lee Cylinder 2x2 Megaminx, the Lee X Cube series (I, II, III) and the Lee Grenade Puzzle built on a Skewb mechanism.

Who Lee puzzles are for

Lee cubes are best suited to people who can already solve a regular cube and want to take on something different, as well as to collectors of unusual puzzles. If you solve with the beginner's method, start with the 2x2 mods: you basically solve them like a regular 2x2, just with the extra challenge of the changing shape. Ghost and Mirror models and the larger 4x4 mods are better left for later. Lee shape mods are not a good choice as a child's first cube. They work much better as the next challenge for someone who has already caught the cubing bug.
