At first glance it looks like an ordinary 2x2 cube, except that every face has a circle cut into it. The MF8 Crazy 2x2 Plus 011 belongs to the Crazy series, where these circles either turn together with the face or stay in place. This twist means the familiar 2x2 solving routine is no longer enough. It's a puzzle for people who enjoy new challenges, not a cube for breaking records.

What does version 011 mean?

The MF8 Crazy 2x2 Plus series comes in three versions: 000, 001 and 011. Faces marked with a 0 have a circle that does not turn with the layer. On the other faces, the circle turns together with the rest of the face. Version 011 has only one such face, the white one. Version 001 has two (white and red), and 000 has three (white, red and green). This makes 011 the version with the fewest unusual faces in the whole series.

How to solve it

The layers turn just like on a 2x2, but the circles have to be solved separately from the corners. The white face behaves differently from the rest, so moves that wouldn't matter on a regular cube can scramble the circles here. Knowing a 2x2 method helps a lot, but you'll need to think through some extra steps to solve it completely.

The cube has no magnets and is not designed for speedcubing. Speed, corner cutting or TPS are best left out of the picture here. The turning is rather stiffer than on modern 2x2 cubes, and what really counts is the solving itself.

Who is it for?

This cube is a great fit for cubers who can already solve a 2x2 and want something different, as well as for collectors of MF8 puzzles. It also makes a good gift for a child who already knows the regular cube. For a very first cube, a classic 2x2 is a better choice. If 011 turns out to be too easy, versions 001 and 000 are the next step.
