Moretry TianMa X3+ ZCube Edition 3x3 (Enhanced)

The TianMa X3+ in a special edition created by Moretry together with ZCube. The mechanism is the same as in the regular TianMa X3+; only the look and the packaging are different. Moretry TianMa X3+ ZCube Edition 3x3 (Enhanced) is the version with magnets in the core, i.e. with a Ball-Core. This makes it more stable than the basic magnetic version from the same series. In our shop it is available in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

What the Enhanced version gives you

The core holds 8 magnets that attract the magnets in the corner bases. In practice, the layers settle more readily into the solved position, and when you turn about 45 degrees, the cube helps you finish the move. The magnetic feel is therefore a bit stronger than in the Standard version, which only has magnets in the pieces. The difference isn't huge, but if you often overshoot or get lockups during fast turning, you will usually notice it.

How it solves

Buyers and reviewers praise its smooth turning and good corner cutting. The feel is usually described as slightly clacky. Some people point out that the magnets aren't among the strongest in their class and that out of the box the cube can be dry and fairly loose. So it's worth starting with your own setup: apply some lube and tighten the tension. After this adjustment, the cube turns with little effort and performs well at higher TPS.

Adjustment

The core has a dual-adjustment system, which means spring compression and tension are set independently of each other. Use the screwdriver included in the set to adjust them. The pieces have a "fishscale" texture designed to reduce friction between the layers.

Who is it for?

For anyone moving up from their first cube to a real speed cube who wants a Ball-Core without buying an expensive flagship. It also works well as a more affordable main or a backup cube for a casual cuber. Speedcubers who like strong, clearly "snappy" magnets may find it too gentle. A tip for parents: it's a good choice as a first magnetic cube for a child who can already solve the 3x3 and wants to solve it faster.
