MoreTry ZCUBE Tianma X3+ Core Magnetic UV

This model is a joint edition by MoreTry and ZCUBE, built on the Tianma X3+ mechanism. The MoreTry ZCUBE Tianma X3+ Core Magnetic UV is a 3x3 cube with magnets in the pieces and an additional 8-magnet Ball-Core. It also has a glossy UV coating. In the ZCUBE series this is the best-equipped version, but it is still a budget cube, not a flagship.

How it turns

Users most often praise its fast, light turning that doesn't require much force, and its good corner cutting. The magnets are fairly moderate in strength, so the cube doesn't feel strongly "snapped into place" and won't suit people who like a very pronounced click. The feel is quite clacky. Out of the box the cube can be dry and loose, so it's worth tightening and lubing it right away. After this setup it feels much more controlled. A few people also comment on its durability when dropped.

Core magnets and adjustment

• 8-magnet Ball-Core. The magnets in the core attract the magnets in the corner bases. This makes the layers less prone to misaligning during fast turning and gives the cube a slightly stronger magnetic feel than the standard version.
• Springs, no MagLev. Spring tension and compression are adjusted independently of each other, and a screwdriver for adjustment is included.
• UV Coated. A glossy surface that feels different in your fingers than matte plastic.

Which version should you choose?

The ZCUBE edition comes in three versions. Magnetic has magnets in the pieces only. Core-Magnetic additionally gets a Ball-Core, which provides more stability. Core-Magnetic UV has the same mechanism as the Core-Magnetic and differs only in the UV coating. If you don't care about a glossy finish, the Core-Magnetic without UV turns exactly the same.

Who is it for?

It's a good first "real" speedcubing cube after a regular supermarket model, as well as a sensible learning cube for a child. A more experienced cuber can buy it as a cheaper backup cube or one to carry around. If you're looking for MagLev or strong magnets, you should rather look at the more expensive versions of the Tianma X3+.
