MoYu Cyberpunk Mat Large

This is a speedcubing mat from the Cyberpunk series, which MoYu launched in 2024. The MoYu Cyberpunk Mat Large is the biggest of the three versions of this mat and the only rectangular one. The graphic shows MoYu 3x3 cubes on a grey and orange mechanical-style background. The mat also has holes for mounting a MoYu timer.

Why use a mat for your cube?

When your cube drops onto a soft mat, it doesn't hit a hard desktop. With daily practice, that means fewer knocked and chipped pieces, and smaller cubes are less likely to bounce and fall off the table. The underside of the mat is non-slip. According to the manufacturer, the mat doesn't curl at the edges or slide around while you solve. This matters during timed sessions, when you put the cube down quickly and not very gently.

A practice station with a timer

The holes in the mat fit MoYu timers. Once mounted, the timer stays firmly in place and doesn't slide away when you slap it quickly at the start and stop. When you practise averages with a timer, it feels similar to competition conditions. You can also place a timer from another brand on the mat, but the holes won't hold it.

Large, Medium or Small?

The Cyberpunk series comes in three sizes. Small is a compact pad that fits a cube and not much more. Medium has an irregular shape. Large gives you the most space: next to the timer you can fit several cubes in a row, so it's handy when you practise several events one after another, e.g. 2x2, 3x3 and 4x4. For a small desk or for taking with you on a trip, one of the smaller versions will be a better choice.

Who is it for?

For cubers who practise regularly in one place and want to keep a timer and a few cubes there. The mat is also a good fit for someone who already has a MoYu timer, or is buying one together with the mat, and is just starting to solve on time. Parents don't need any speedcubing knowledge to set it up: just put the mat on the desk and mount the timer.
