MoYu Meilong 3x3x3 Plastic Box

This is the magnetic version of the MoYu Meilong 3x3, an affordable speed cube from the MeiLong series by MoFangJiaoShi, MoYu's budget brand. In this variant, the cube comes in a clear plastic box with a stand. You get the same mechanism as in the regular Meilong M, plus packaging that works well as a gift and lets you display the cube on a shelf. Colour scheme: stickerless bright, with no stickers, so nothing peels off or wears away.

How it turns

The MeiLong has been one of the most popular budget 3x3 cubes for years. The M version comes with factory-installed magnets. They help the layers settle into the right position, so solving feels more predictable than on cheaper non-magnetic cubes. Users most often describe it as a fast, light-turning cube with decent corner cutting for its price range. Straight out of the box it can be a bit dry and noisy. A little lube usually fixes that.

It doesn't have features from more expensive cubes, such as Ball-Core or MagLev. The magnet strength is not adjustable. Tension is set the classic way, with screws inside the cube. With very aggressive turning and high TPS, the Meilong falls behind flagship models, but it is more than enough for learning and your first attempts at speedsolving.

Who is the boxed Meilong M for?

• As a first magnetic cube for someone who is learning to solve or switching from an ordinary toy-store cube.
• As a gift for a child. The clear box with a stand looks neat and protects the cube, and stickerless means you don't have to worry about stickers.
• As a backup cube for school, your backpack or for learning new algorithms, when you'd rather not carry your more expensive main with you.

A speedcuber who already has a set-up flagship cube probably won't find anything new here. For a beginner, it is a sensible start without spending much.
