MoYu RS Magnetic Skewb

MoYu RS Magnetic Skewb

The MoYu RS Magnetic Skewb, also known as the RS Skewb M, is the first skewb in MoYu's budget RS series. It was released in 2022. This 55 mm magnetic skewb gets features known from more expensive puzzles: positioning magnets, a new anti-pop mechanism, rounded corners and a dual adjustment system. We offer it in the stickerless bright colour scheme, made of coloured plastic with no stickers. The colours are easy to tell apart, and there is nothing to wear off.

Out of the box, the skewb turns lightly and is on the fast side. The magnets noticeably pull the layers into place, so the puzzle feels stable and overshooting happens less often. The rounded corners improve corner cutting, so a move made at a slightly imperfect angle usually goes through without a lockup. The new anti-pop mechanism reduces the risk of a piece popping out during fast, aggressive turning. The surface is matte and offers medium grip.

Under the centres there is a dual adjustment system with 9 levels of elasticity. You can set the skewb tighter if you want more control, or looser if speed is your priority. Some users find the puzzle almost too fast straight from the factory. In that case, simply tighten the adjustment or use a thicker lube.

This version uses classic springs. MoYu also makes the RS Skewb M in a MagLev version, in which the springs are replaced by repelling magnets. The MagLev version turns faster and has no spring noise. In the standard version, users mention audible springs when turning, but the puzzle itself remains stable and predictable. If the noise bothers you, you can lube the springs.

The RS Magnetic Skewb works well as a first magnetic skewb for someone just learning this puzzle, and also as a gift for a child. It is also an affordable main for anyone who practises skewb casually or competes, as the model is competition-legal. The puzzle weighs approx. 65 g, so it sits comfortably in your hand even during longer sessions. If you want even faster turning without spring noise, you can choose the MagLev version.
