Picube MoYu RS Skewb Magnetic Core Magnet

This is the popular budget magnetic skewb from MoYu, modified by Picube. It's based on the standard MoYu RS Skewb Magnetic, also known as the RS Skewb M, which is often recommended as a first magnetic skewb. Picube adds core magnets, which work together with the magnets in the pieces. The puzzle comes in a stickerless bright version.

What the base RS Skewb M offers

The RS Skewb M is known as a fast skewb with a smooth feel and good corner cutting. Out of the box it can be quite loose and very fast, so some people find it harder to control. Tightening the settings and adding a little lube usually helps. Users of the spring version also mention audible spring noise. Tension is adjusted through spring compression in 9 steps. The plastic has a matte (frosted) finish with medium grip.

What the core magnets change

In a regular magnetic skewb, the magnets are only in the pieces and help complete each move. The Picube modification adds magnets inside the puzzle, so each layer is also pulled into place from the core side. This is meant to give more stable turn stopping and a stronger "click". In the RS Skewb, it can reduce the excessive looseness that some users of the standard version complain about. However, expect a more noticeable magnetic feel. If you prefer very light, free turning, it may take a moment to get used to.

Standard or Picube version?

The mechanism, shape and adjustment come from the RS Skewb M. The two versions differ in the core magnets. For learning skewb and casual solving, the standard version is more than enough. The Picube version is for those who already know magnetic skewbs and want the RS to behave more stably and predictably during fast turning. It's also a good choice if you like cubes modified by modders.
