List of products by manufacturer Picube

Picube makes special editions (SE) of MoYu, QiYi, X-Man Design and YJ cubes. They change the magnet layout, add core magnets or MagLev, and offer a choice of UV or matte finish. The range includes 3x3 cubes, big cubes, Square-1 and Pyraminx for cubers who want a different feel than the factory version.

Picube is a Chinese team of speedcubers who make special editions of cubes from well-known brands. They started in August 2017 with hand-modded magnetic cubes. Today, the Picube SE (Special Edition) line includes modified versions of MoYu, QiYi, X-Man Design and YJ models. Each edition has a changed magnet configuration, a different finish and its own internal colour. The Picube range includes 3x3 cubes, big cubes, Pyraminx and Square-1.

How Picube cubes differ from the factory versions

Picube takes a proven model and changes specific parts of it. An SE edition does not always have more magnets than the base version. Often it is about a different balance. One example is the WeiLong WRM V10 Picube: it has a Ball-Core with 8 magnets instead of 20, no repulsion magnets on the edges, and a looser tension range. This cube behaves differently from the factory V10, but that does not mean it is simply "stronger".

  • Core magnets and Ball-Core: magnets in the centre of the cube pull the layers into place. This makes the cube more stable, and the layers misalign less often during fast turning.

  • MagLev: repelling magnets replace the metal springs. The cube turns without the typical spring noise.

  • UV or matte: UV is a glossy, slick coating, while matte is a non-glossy surface with a different grip.

Key Picube SE series

  • 3x3: WeiLong V11 SE with an 8-magnet Ball-Core. You can choose a spring version (Spring) or a MagLev version, as well as an Edge Repulsion variant. There are also the WRM V10 Picube LE and the RS3M 2020 Core Magnet.

  • Big cubes: AoSu V7 SE Dual Track 4x4 with refined core magnets and spring strength, AoChuang V6 SE Dual Track 5x5, AoShi 6x6 V4 SE, AoFu V5 SE and QiYi Warrior M 7x7 SE. Core Magnet versions have extra magnets in the centre, so they hold their shape better during fast turning.

  • Square-1: MGC SQ1 developed together with YJ. It comes in versions ranging from the basic magnetic one, through Edge Magnet and Equator Magnet, up to a MagLev version.

  • Pyraminx: WeiLong Pyraminx SE in Magnetic and MagLev versions, some of them with 10 magnets in the core.

Who Picube cubes are for

You will get the most out of a Picube cube if you already know the factory version of the model and are looking for a different feel. That might be a more stable big cube, a different magnet layout in a 3x3, or a matte finish instead of UV. For a first cube, the factory version is usually enough. The differences between SE variants are subtle and hard to appreciate until you know what you are looking for.
