Picube makes special editions (SE) of MoYu, QiYi, X-Man Design and YJ cubes. They change the magnet layout, add core magnets or MagLev, and offer a choice of UV or matte finish. The range includes 3x3 cubes, big cubes, Square-1 and Pyraminx for cubers who want a different feel than the factory version.
Picube is a Chinese team of speedcubers who make special editions of cubes from well-known brands. They started in August 2017 with hand-modded magnetic cubes. Today, the Picube SE (Special Edition) line includes modified versions of MoYu, QiYi, X-Man Design and YJ models. Each edition has a changed magnet configuration, a different finish and its own internal colour. The Picube range includes 3x3 cubes, big cubes, Pyraminx and Square-1.
Picube takes a proven model and changes specific parts of it. An SE edition does not always have more magnets than the base version. Often it is about a different balance. One example is the WeiLong WRM V10 Picube: it has a Ball-Core with 8 magnets instead of 20, no repulsion magnets on the edges, and a looser tension range. This cube behaves differently from the factory V10, but that does not mean it is simply "stronger".
You will get the most out of a Picube cube if you already know the factory version of the model and are looking for a different feel. That might be a more stable big cube, a different magnet layout in a 3x3, or a matte finish instead of UV. For a first cube, the factory version is usually enough. The differences between SE variants are subtle and hard to appreciate until you know what you are looking for.
