PiLube White

PiLube White: water-based cube lube, 10 ml

A light water-based lube from PiCube, the Chinese brand behind the whole PiLube series. PiLube White is designed to speed up your cube quickly and make it smoother. Once applied, turning becomes lighter, and a cube that felt heavy or "sticky" starts to turn more freely. The lube comes in a 10 ml bottle.

How water-based lube works

Water-based lubes are thinner than most silicone lubes, so they hardly slow the cube down at all. In lube comparisons, PiLube White comes out as very fast and light, but with medium longevity. That's typical of water-based lubes: the effect is instant, but it fades faster than with silicone, so you'll need to reapply it from time to time. If your cube is already very fast and tends to overshoot, this lube is unlikely to give it more control.

How to use it

• On the pieces, not the hardware. The manufacturer clearly states that this lube should not be applied to springs and screws.
• Together with silicone lube. The manufacturer recommends using PiLube White in combination with silicone lube. In practice, the silicone provides longevity and feel, while White adds speed.
• Small amounts. A few drops are enough. Then turn each layer several times to spread the lube.

Who is it for?

For cubers whose cube is too slow or too heavily lubed from the factory and who want to loosen it up quickly without taking it apart. PiLube White is also useful if you already have a silicone lube and are looking for a light addition to fine-tune speed. Parents buying a first lube for their child should know that this product mainly makes the cube faster. If you want your cube to become slower and more controllable, a thicker silicone lube will work better.
