A silicone lube from PiCube in a 10 ml bottle. It's one of the heavier lubes in the PiLube series: it calms down a cube that's too fast, adds stability and stays in the mechanism for a long time. Works best blended with a lighter lube.
A silicone cube lube from the PiLube series by the Chinese brand PiCube, in a 10 ml bottle. PiLube Black is one of the heavier lubes in this line. It calms your cube down, adds stability and stays in the mechanism for a long time. You can use it in any puzzle, but it works best combined with other lubes.
Once applied, your cube turns slower and more calmly, and the turning becomes more predictable. Black is noticeably thicker than speed lubes. However, it doesn't slow the cube down as much as the thickest control lubes. Smoothness is moderate, so don't expect a very soft, dampened feel. Its strong point is longevity. The silicone base stays in the mechanism for a long time, so you don't need to reapply it often.
Black is most useful when your cube has become too loose after breaking in, tends to overshoot or is simply too fast for you. If you want to speed your cube up, choose a different lube.
This lube works best as a base or an addition to a blend. It is usually mixed with a lighter lube: Black provides stability and longevity, while the lighter lube brings back some of the speed. It's best to find the ratio yourself. More Black gives a more controllable feel, more of the lighter lube makes the cube faster. For a tackier, much slower feel, the thickest lubes in the PiLube series are a better choice.
A small amount is enough. Apply a few drops, do a few dozen turns with each layer to spread the lube, and only then judge the effect. It's easy to overdo a heavy lube. Too much lube can make your cube sluggish, and removing the excess takes longer than adding another drop.
For cubers who want to calm down a cube that's too fast or create their own control lube blend. It's also a good fit if water-based lubes dry out too quickly for you and you'd rather lube your cube less often. If you're just starting out and simply want your cube to turn more smoothly, a lighter, all-round lube will be a better first choice.
