PiLube Blue 10k

PiLube Blue 10k – thick silicone cube lube

PiLube Blue 10k is a silicone cube lube from PiCube in a 10 ml bottle. The bottled Blue series comes in three viscosities: 3k, 5k and 10k (the thicker 30k, 50k and 100k are sold in syringes). A higher number means a thicker lube, so 10k is the thickest of the bottles. It is not meant to speed your cube up. It adds resistance, control and stability when a cube feels too fast or too twitchy in your hands.

What it does to your cube

Thick silicone forms a heavier layer on the pieces. As a result, turning becomes heavier, softer and calmer. The cube is less prone to overshooting, and it's easier to stop layers exactly where you want them. The lube also quiets loud, "clicky" mechanisms, although this effect is subjective and depends on the specific cube. Thick silicone lubes usually stay in the mechanism for a long time, so you don't need to reapply them often.

Keep in mind that your cube will be noticeably slower after Blue 10k. If you like light, fast turning, you may find the effect too strong, especially in a cube that is already fairly slow.

When to choose Blue 10k

• For very fast cubes, e.g. MagLev models that feel too "bouncy" and are hard to control while executing algorithms.
• For bigger cubes (4x4 and up), where stability and precise layer stopping matter more than raw speed.
• To quiet a loud cube and get a more muffled sound.

Blue 3k, 5k or 10k?

All three versions belong to the same series and differ in viscosity. Blue 3k is thin and adds smoothness without slowing the cube down much. Blue 5k sits in the middle of the scale, offering a compromise between speed and control. Choose Blue 10k when you want to clearly slow down and stabilize your cube. If you're not sure which effect will suit you, it's safer to start with 5k or apply a very small amount of 10k and add more if needed.

How to use

With a thick lube, a small amount is enough. Apply a few drops to the pieces, turn the cube a few dozen times to spread the lube, and only then judge the effect. Too much lube can make the cube feel sluggish.
