PiLube Yellow is a silicone cube lube from the Chinese manufacturer PiCube. According to the manufacturer, it gives your cube smooth yet stable turning and lasts a long time. Within the PiLube series, Yellow is the version focused more on stability, while its twin, PiLube Red, is all about smoothness. We sell this lube in a 10 ml bottle.

How it works on your cube

The manufacturer describes Yellow as a fairly fluid lube that spreads easily. Once applied, it should reduce scratchiness and even out the turning without making the cube too loose or hard to control. Opinions differ on how much it slows a cube down, though. Some sources describe it as a light lube that adds speed. Others place it closer to the middle of the scale, with more emphasis on durability than on speed. The safest assumption is that it's a lube for everyday solving that gives a smooth feel and a bit of stability. It won't weigh your cube down the way thick control lubes do.

The lube is silicone-based, so it won't disappear from your cube after a few sessions, as water-based lubes sometimes do. Right after applying it, though, your cube may need some breaking in before the lube spreads properly across the pieces.

PiLube Yellow or PiLube Red?

Both lubes are silicones from the same series. What sets them apart is what they focus on. Yellow works better in a cube that is too fast or overshoots too easily and that you want to give a bit more stability. Choose Red if your main goal is smoother turning.
