MoYu WeiLong Pyraminx SE MagLev UV

MoYu WeiLong Pyraminx SE MagLev UV is a special edition of the WeiLong Pyraminx, created by MoYu together with PiCube. It is based on the well-known WeiLong Pyraminx. The SE version has orange internal plastic, adjustable magnet strength and more configuration options than the original. This variant comes with the MagLev system and a glossy UV coating, in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

MagLev and magnet adjustment

In the MagLev version, the springs are replaced with repelling magnets. In practice, turning is usually lighter and faster, and you won't hear any spring noise while turning. The puzzle also has positioning magnets that make the layers clearly "click" into place. You can adjust their strength across 5 levels, so you can set up your Pyraminx for more speed or more control.

UV coating

The UV coating is glossy and usually gives a better grip than matte plastic. On a Pyraminx, where many moves are done with just your fingers on the tips and layers, a lot of people appreciate this. If you prefer a drier, matte grip, you'll find the same design in the Matte version. Early user reviews praise the smooth feel of the SE UV version. However, these are impressions from just a few reviews, not a measured parameter.

Which WeiLong Pyraminx SE version?

The SE series comes in several configurations: with springs or MagLev, Matte or UV, and with no core magnets or with 6 or 10 core magnets. This variant has MagLev and UV, but no core magnets. Versions with core magnets add extra stability to layer movements, but they are noticeably more expensive. This model is a sensible compromise if you want light MagLev turning and a UV coating, but don't need extra magnetic reinforcement in the core.

Who is it for?

For those who solve the Pyraminx regularly or practise for time and are looking for a fast, adjustable puzzle with light turning. If this is going to be your first puzzle of this type, a simpler magnetic model is usually enough to start with. The SE MagLev UV version is worth getting once your basic puzzle starts holding you back.
