Picube MoYu WeiLong Pyraminx Magnetic 10 Core Magnet

This is a version of the WeiLong Pyraminx modified by the Picube studio. It is based on the MoYu WeiLong Pyraminx Magnetic, the spring version without MagLev. Picube added 10 magnets in the core. The magnets in the pieces and in the tips are the same as in the original. The modification has one goal: to make the pyraminx more stable during fast turning without losing speed. Colour scheme: stickerless bright.

The base mechanism

The standard WeiLong Pyraminx has been one of the most popular pyraminxes among competitors for years. It is fast but still controllable. Michael Nielsen set his former average world record (1.64 s) on it. The puzzle has magnet strength and spring compression adjustment, so you can set it up for more speed or more control.

What the core magnets do

The core magnets help keep the layers aligned. During fast turning the pyraminx is less likely to misalign, it is easier to land each turn in position, and overshooting happens less often. According to user feedback, this version solves better than the regular WeiLong Magnetic and the MagLev version. Feel is a personal matter, though. Some cubers get similar times on cheaper pyraminxes after a simple setup, so core magnets do not automatically mean better results.

Springs or MagLev?

This puzzle uses springs. Many Pyraminx solvers find the MagLev WeiLong too fast and harder to control, so they prefer the spring version. Combining springs with core magnets gives more controlled, predictable behaviour.

Who is it for?

For anyone who practises Pyraminx for time, already knows the standard WeiLong and wants a more stable version of the same puzzle. For a first pyraminx or casual solving, the regular WeiLong Pyraminx Magnetic is more than enough. It has the same mechanism and adjustment options, just without the core magnets.

A practical tip: the WeiLong tips do not come off easily. Do not pull them off with your fingers. Instead, turn the tip by half a turn and carefully pry it up with a thin plastic tool so you do not damage the mount.
