MoYu WeiLong Pyraminx SE Magnetic 6 Core Magnet

The MoYu WeiLong Pyraminx SE is a special edition of the popular WeiLong Pyraminx, made by MoYu together with PiCube. On the outside it's the same pyraminx. The differences are inside: orange internal plastic, several configurations to choose from and optional magnets in the core. This version has magnets in the pieces, classic springs (no MagLev) and 6 magnets in the core. Colour scheme: stickerless bright.

What the core magnets do

The standard WeiLong Pyraminx has magnets in the edges and centers, plus separate magnets that position the tips. The 6 Core Magnet version adds magnets in the core itself. They provide extra positioning for the layers, so the puzzle feels more controlled and stable than the version without core magnets. The SE series also includes a variant with 10 core magnets for cubers who want an even stronger effect.

Adjustment and springs

• 5 magnet strength levels. You can set up the pyraminx more for speed or more for control.
• Compression adjustment. The base WeiLong Pyraminx has 8 spring compression settings.
• Springs instead of MagLev. The classic spring system usually gives a more predictable feel than the MagLev version.

How it turns

The base WeiLong Pyraminx is already considered a fast pyraminx straight out of the box. Users of the SE series rate it as clearly better than the basic Magnetic version and the MagLev version, but not everyone finds the difference big enough. One reviewer prefers a cheaper, well set-up competitor. So it's hard to talk about an objective advantage, because a lot depends on what kind of feel you like.

When disassembling, don't pull the tips off with your fingers alone. On the WeiLong Pyraminx this can easily bend or break the plastic mounts the tips sit on.

Who is it for?

For cubers who practise Pyraminx for speed, want more stable behaviour than the standard WeiLong offers and like tuning their puzzle to suit them. For a first pyraminx or occasional solving, the regular WeiLong Pyraminx Magnetic or another cheaper magnetic model is more than enough.
