MoYu WeiLong Pyraminx SE Magnetic 10 Core Magnet UV

MoYu created this special edition of the WeiLong Pyraminx together with PiCube. The MoYu WeiLong Pyraminx SE Magnetic 10 Core Magnet UV is the most fully equipped SE version with classic springs. It has the magnetic WeiLong mechanism, 10 core magnets and a UV coating. It also looks different from the regular WeiLong on the inside, because the internal plastic is orange.

Core magnets in a Pyraminx

The standard WeiLong Pyraminx Magnetic has magnets in the pieces and at the corners (tips). The 10 Core Magnet version also has magnets in the core itself. In practice, they help finish layer turns and align the layers evenly. The puzzle pulls the layer into position by itself, and slight overturns are less likely to end in a lockup. This makes the Pyraminx more stable during fast turning than the version without core magnets. If you like a very light, free-moving feel, you may need a moment to get used to the more noticeable "click".

Adjustment

The SE version has 5 levels of magnet strength adjustment, so you can set up the puzzle for a more stable or a lighter, faster feel. This variant uses springs (no MagLev). This gives you more classic, predictable layer control, and you can adjust the tension to suit your own style.

WeiLong Pyraminx SE versions

The SE series comes in several configurations:

• Springs or MagLev. MagLev replaces the springs with repelling magnets and gives lighter turning. Springs give a more traditional feel.
• No core magnets, 6 or 10 Core Magnets. The more magnets in the core, the more the puzzle helps you align the layers.
• Matte or UV. The mechanism is the same; only the finish differs. UV has a glossy coating with stronger grip, Matte has matte plastic.

Who is it for?

For people who train Pyraminx seriously and want a stable puzzle with strongly assisted layer alignment, as well as for those who used to add core magnets to a regular WeiLong themselves. If you are just starting with Pyraminx, the cheaper WeiLong Pyraminx Magnetic or the SE version without core magnets will be more than enough.
