The SE version of the famous WeiLong Pyraminx, developed by MoYu together with PiCube. The MoYu WeiLong Pyraminx SE MagLev 6 Core Magnet keeps the familiar WeiLong body and character, and adds an orange internal plastic, a MagLev system instead of springs, and 6 magnets in the core. Colour scheme: stickerless bright.

What's different from the regular WeiLong

The standard WeiLong Pyraminx Magnetic is light and fast. With weaker magnets it can even be too fast for people who like more control. The SE edition changes this in two ways:

• MagLev. Tension comes from repelling magnets instead of springs. Turning is lighter and there's no spring noise.
• 6-Core Magnetic. The core magnets help the layers return to an aligned position. If your turning isn't precise, the puzzle finishes the move on its own more often and gets fewer lockups.

Magnet strength can be set to 5 levels, so you can choose how strongly the pyraminx "clicks" into place with each move.

Feel and performance

This version is fast, but more stable than the basic WeiLong. The core magnets add control without having to tighten the tension or use thick lube. According to user feedback, the SE versions with core magnets clearly improve on the basic WeiLong and its MagLev version. As always with pyraminxes, though, a lot depends on personal preference, and some people prefer simpler, cheaper models with their own setup.

Which SE version?

The WeiLong Pyraminx SE comes in several variants. You can choose a version without core magnets or with 6 or 10 core magnets, spring or MagLev tension, and a matte finish or UV coating. The 6-core version is the middle option: it gives more stability than the standard version, but not as much layer "guidance" as the 10-core. Choose MagLev if you want light, quiet turning. Springs usually give a more classic, predictable feel.

Who is it for?

For people who solve the pyraminx against the clock and want a fast WeiLong with more stability straight out of the box. If you're just starting out with the pyraminx, a cheaper magnetic model will serve you perfectly well.
