Picube QiYi Warrior M 7x7 SE UV Core Magnet

Picube QiYi Warrior M 7x7 SE UV Core Magnet

This is a special edition (SE) of the budget Warrior, created by PiCube together with QiYi. It is based on the magnetic QiYi Warrior M 7x7, and PiCube adds core magnets, which are magnets in the core of the cube, factory-installed by PiCube. This version has a glossy UV coating and a stickerless bright colour scheme. You can easily recognise the SE edition by the orange PiCube logo and the orange box.

How it turns

The Warrior is compact. At 62.5 mm, it sits comfortably in your hands and is less tiring during longer 7x7 sessions. Users report that the core magnet version is fast straight out of the box, including on the inner layers. However, it can feel rather dry from the factory, and after setup and lubing it becomes noticeably more controllable and stable. Some users report slight catching and a noticeable magnetic "click" on the second layer, which comes from the two-zone magnet layout. If you like a very loose and fast 7x7, you may need a moment to get used to it.

Magnets and design

• Piece magnets in two zones: 144 in the outer layers and 72 in the inner layers. They help finish turns and align the layers evenly.
• Core magnets by PiCube: additional magnets in the core improve layer stability during faster turning. The standard Warrior M is sometimes described as less stable at higher TPS, and the PiCube modification targets exactly this issue.
• Integrated center caps that don't fall out while solving.
• UV coating with a glossy finish. It gives more grip than matte plastic and resists scratches better.

Which Warrior version should you choose?

The regular Warrior M UV has the same piece magnets but no core magnets. It's a cheaper and sensible option for your first magnetic 7x7. The SE Core Magnet version is for those who want a more stable cube on the same compact platform. The SE edition is also available without core magnets and with a matte finish. The difference between UV and matte only concerns the surface and grip.

Who is it for?

For those who solve 7x7 regularly and want a stable magnetic cube without spending money on a flagship model. It's also a great choice if large 7x7 cubes tire your hands. If you're just starting out with 7x7, the base Warrior M will be more than enough.
