A special edition of the MoYu AoFu V5 7x7 Double-Track developed together with PiCube. It features a PiCube-designed magnetic core, a modified magnet layout in the edges and corners, and its own springs. These changes aim to deliver stability close to the Triple-Track version. The Matte version has a matte surface without a UV coating.

This is a special edition 7x7 cube that MoYu developed together with PiCube. It is based on the MoYu AoFu V5 Double-Track version. PiCube changed three things: it added its own magnetic core, rearranged the magnets in the edges and corners, and fitted its own springs. The Matte version has a matte surface without a UV coating and comes in the stickerless bright colour scheme. The cube carries a blue PiCube logo and is sold in a special edition box.
The standard AoFu V5 comes in three versions: Single-Track (magnets only in the outer tracks), Double-Track (plus magnets in the Ball-Core) and Triple-Track (additional anti-pop magnets). According to distributors, the PiCube-designed core gives the Double-Track magnet strength and stability closer to the Triple-Track versions, while keeping the lighter, more flexible dual-track build. In practice, the magnets in the core help keep the middle layers aligned. This is especially useful during the 3x3 stage, when you turn whole blocks of layers.
Reviewers praise the standard AoFu V5 Double-Track for its stability and good corner cutting. They also point out that straight out of the box the cube can feel stiff and dry, but it noticeably breaks in after a dozen or so solves and your own setup. Opinions on the magnets are divided. Some find the distinct "click" on every move helps with control, while others prefer the lighter, smoother turning of the Single-Track version. The SE edition is meant to focus more on stability and strong magnets, so it suits cubers who value control. If you want the lightest possible turning, the Single-Track version is a better choice. The matte surface may feel slippery at first, but over time it grips your fingers better.
The Matte and UV versions of the Core Magnet edition have the same mechanism and differ only in finish. Matte has no shine and picks up fewer fingerprints. UV has a glossy coating and usually offers stronger grip.
For cubers who already solve 7x7 and are looking for a main cube with core magnets. It also works well as a collector's special edition cube. For your first 7x7 to learn on, a simpler magnetic version is perfectly enough.
