MoYu Super WeiLong Magnetic 3x3 8-Magnet Ball Core

The Super WeiLong was MoYu's flagship 3x3 for 2023. MoYu packed it with adjustment options, including the ability to change the strength of the magnets between the corners and the core. The MoYu Super WeiLong Magnetic 3x3 8-Magnet Ball Core is the version with an 8-magnet Ball-Core and classic springs instead of MagLev. It has a UV coating and comes in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

How the Super WeiLong versions differ

The first generation of the Super WeiLong was released in three versions: 8-Magnet with springs (this cube), 8-Magnet with MagLev, and 20-Magnet with MagLev. All of them are 55 mm, UV coated and have adjustable corner magnets. The spring version has 76 magnets in total, the 8-Magnet MagLev has 88, and the 20-Magnet has 100. In the MagLev versions, repelling magnets replace the springs, so turning is lighter and faster. Springs give a more controllable feel, which many cubers prefer for calmer, more precise turning. The 20-Magnet version holds the layers more firmly through the core and has a newer generation of auto-alignment.

How it turns

Reviews of the Super WeiLong keep mentioning the same qualities: a smooth, fairly soft feel, very good corner cutting and high resistance to popping. The magnets in the Ball-Core pull the corners towards the centre. As a result, the cube finishes the turn by itself once the layer is close to the right position, and it is more forgiving of imprecise turning. Users of this version also praise the factory setup, so many cubes are ready to solve without a long setup.

Adjustment

• Corner-core magnets with 8 levels. There is a magnet in the foot of each corner, and you set its strength relative to the core with a dial. In the spring version, the dial is green.
• Springs with 9 compression settings. They let you set up the cube more for speed or more for control.
• You change the settings with the MoYu multifunctional tool.

Who is it for?

For a cuber who wants a cube with a magnetic core and extensive adjustment options, but prefers springs over MagLev. This model works best for people who have already used a few cubes and know what feel they are looking for. In 2025 MoYu released the Super WeiLong V2 with a different adjustment system, so this model is the first generation of the series. It is too complex a model to be a child's first cube. Also keep in mind that, according to some users, MoYu's UV-coated pieces are more brittle, so the cube doesn't like being dropped. To get started, a simpler 3x3 magnetic cube is enough.
