MoYu Super Weilong V2 18th Anniversary

MoYu released this edition to celebrate the brand's 18th anniversary. Mechanically, it is the MoYu Super Weilong V2 3x3 in the version with MagLev and a 20-magnet Ball-Core, which makes it the best-equipped non-electronic variant of the Super Weilong V2. What mainly sets it apart from the regular V2 is its look: transparent internal pieces, an anniversary logo on the center piece, special packaging and a commemorative card. The cube is stickerless, in bright colors.

MagLev, Ball-Core and magnets

• MagLev. Instead of metal springs, layer tension is held by repelling magnets. There is less friction inside, turning feels lighter and there is no spring noise.
• 20-magnet Ball-Core. Magnets in the core help the layers snap into place and keep the cube stable during fast turning.
• Magnets in the pieces. Classic positioning magnets that give every move a clear "click".
• Adjustment. Adjustment accessories are included, so you can tune the setup to your style.

How it turns

MagLev combined with a strong Ball-Core makes the cube fast but clearly "guided". The layers snap into place on their own, which helps at high TPS and usually reduces overshooting. According to early user reviews, the feel is very similar to the standard version, with the difference coming down to a slightly crispier feel. If you like loose cubes with weak layer guidance, you may find the strong Ball-Core too noticeable.

Anniversary edition or regular V2?

The Super Weilong V2 comes in several variants: with a 20-magnet Ball-Core without MagLev, with Ball-Core and MagLev, and as a smart AI cube (which has an 8-magnet Ball-Core). In terms of mechanism, the 18th Anniversary edition matches the Ball-Core + MagLev variant. Here you mainly pay extra for the transparent internals, the anniversary finish and the collectible character. If you only need a cube for practice, the standard V2 with the same set of features should be enough.

Who is it for?

For speedcubers who want MoYu's flagship 3x3 cube with MagLev and Ball-Core and also appreciate limited editions. It is also a great piece for a MoYu cube collection. For a child's first cube, a simpler and cheaper magnetic model is a better choice.
