MoYu V1 Lube 5 ml

MoYu has released three cube lubes, labelled V1, V2 and V3. MoYu V1 Lube is a low-viscosity silicone lube. It is designed to smooth out the feel of your cube and calm it down, so it is easier to control in your hands. It does not make the turning itself faster. The lube comes in a 5 ml bottle with a narrow nozzle, so you can apply a few drops directly between the pieces.

What MoYu V1 silicone lube does

Silicone lube dampens the roughness and scratchiness of the plastic, so after applying it the turning feels smoother and quieter. The cube usually also becomes slightly slower and less prone to overshooting. It works best in cubes that are too "loose" or too fast and hard to stop in the right place. If your cube is too slow, this lube is unlikely to change that.

Low-viscosity lube spreads easily over the pieces and does not gum up the cube as much as thicker lubes. Still, it is best to start with a small amount, turn the cube a few dozen times and only then add more lube if needed. With too much lube, the cube quickly becomes sluggish.

V1, V2 or V3?

• MoYu V1 is a thinner silicone lube that gives a smoother feel and more control.
• MoYu V2 is milky white and water-soluble. It is meant to speed up the cube, so it works the opposite way to V1.
• MoYu V3 is a thicker silicone lube that slows down and dampens movements more strongly.

Some cubers combine V1 and V2. In that case, the silicone lube goes inside the cube and the water-based lube goes on the contact surfaces of the pieces. This lets you fine-tune the balance between speed and control.

Who is it for?

This lube is useful for anyone who wants to improve the feel of their cube without replacing it. It works well on a new cube straight out of the box, on an older cube that has started to feel scratchy, or on a model that is too fast. The lube is easy to use, so even if you have never lubed a cube before, you will manage without any problems.
