3D Magnetic Tangram Pro

3D Magnetic Tangram Pro is a classic tangram in a magnetic, three-dimensional version. The set consists of seven transparent pieces. You use them to build the shapes shown in the included puzzle booklet. The same rule has applied for centuries: every shape must use all seven pieces, and they must not overlap.

What makes a 3D magnetic tangram different

In a regular tangram, the flat pieces slide around on the table, and it's easy to knock apart a section you've already built. Here the pieces are thicker and have magnets, so they attract each other. A finished shape holds together, so you can pick it up or turn it around. According to users, some figures can even stand upright. The Pro version comes in a rigid case that holds the pieces and the booklet. The whole set is easy to take on a trip, and nothing gets lost in a drawer.

How to play

You choose a silhouette from the booklet, such as an animal, a figure or a geometric shape, and try to recreate it with the pieces. Simple shapes take just a moment. With harder ones, you need to think carefully about where to place the two large triangles and the parallelogram, because the whole layout usually depends on them. You can also create your own figures from the same seven pieces.

Who is it for?

This is a logic puzzle, not a cube, so there's no turning or tension adjustment involved. It trains spatial imagination and patience. It makes a great gift for a child who loves puzzles, a game for the whole family, or a change of pace for a cuber who wants to rack their brain over something other than a cube from time to time. It is not a WCA puzzle, so it is not used in competitions.
