QiYi Warrior 3x3 M

QiYi Warrior 3x3 M is the magnetic version of one of the most affordable speed cubes from QiYi. It's a budget 3x3 cube with factory-installed magnets. It measures 55 mm, weighs approx. 58 g and comes in a stickerless bright version. People usually buy it as their first magnetic cube, as a spare or as a cube to carry around.

How it turns

The Warrior M is very light, so it turns with minimal effort. Users consistently describe it as fast. The magnets help the layers settle into place, but reviews often mention that they are rather weak. You won't get the distinct "click" you know from more expensive cubes. If you like a strongly magnetic, controlled feel, you may find this cube a bit too loose and need more control during fast turning.

Out of the box, the feel can be sandy, and some units are downright dry and slightly scratchy. That's normal for a cube at this price, and a good silicone lube usually noticeably improves smoothness and makes the mechanism quieter.

Warrior M, Warrior M UV or Warrior M Pro?

• Warrior M (this cube) has magnets and plain plastic without a UV coating.
• Warrior M UV has the same mechanism with a glossy UV coating, which feels different in the hand and gives a stronger grip.
• Warrior M Pro is a separate model with a different piece design. It is noticeably heavier (approx. 74 g), has tool-free manual compression adjustment and is more stable. The Warrior M doesn't have this dual adjustment system.

Who is it for?

For beginners who want to see how a magnetic cube turns before spending more on their first "main". It also works well as an inexpensive cube for kids, a school cube or a spare to keep in your backpack. Intermediate cubers sometimes use it to practise turning accuracy, because a light, fast cube quickly exposes imprecise turning. If you plan to improve your times regularly, sooner or later you'll want a cube with tension adjustment and stronger magnets, such as the Warrior M Pro.
