Vin Cube first became known for its 4x4 cube, and the 2x2 is the brand's first smaller WCA puzzle. It was released in early 2025. Vin Cube 2x2 Ball Core UV is the higher-end of the two versions. It has magnets in the pieces, a magnetic Ball-Core and a glossy UV coating. At 51 mm, the cube is a little larger than some popular 2x2s.

How it turns

The turning feels like older, classic 2x2s such as the Valk 2 or MGC Elite. It's a predictable, controllable cube rather than an ultra-light, "slippery" one. The manufacturer states corner cutting of up to about 45 degrees. Reviewers also praise its stability and say it rarely catches.

Out of the box, results vary. Some users report a loose setup and a fairly dry, sandy feel caused by the texture of the pieces. Tightening the tension, adding lube and a short break-in usually help. If you want to start solving straight out of the box, expect to spend a moment setting it up.

Ball-Core and mechanism design

Ball Core UV or the standard version?

The standard Vin 2x2 has the same size and magnet layout. The difference is that it has no core magnets, has a semi-matte surface without UV coating and is a few grams lighter. The Ball Core UV version is more stable and offers more grip. The standard version is a cheaper, simpler option for those who don't need core magnets.

Who is it for?

For cubers looking for a magnetic 2x2 with Ball-Core on a reasonable budget who prefer control over very light turning. It works well as a first more serious 2x2 after a beginner's cube. Fans of the classic MGC or Valk feel will like it too. If you don't want to adjust or lube anything, you may need some help with the initial setup.
