Vin Cube 2x2 Glossy

Vin started out with a 4x4 cube, and the 2x2 is the brand's first smaller WCA puzzle. It was released in early 2025. Vin Cube 2x2 Glossy is the basic, standard version of this magnetic 2x2 cube. It has a glossy surface without a UV coating and a classic screw-and-spring mechanism, but no Ball-Core. In our shop it is available in the stickerless bright colour scheme.

How it turns

At 51 mm, the cube is slightly larger than many 2x2s and sits securely in your hand. The manufacturer promises corner cutting of up to 45 degrees, and the turning is reminiscent of older, classic 2x2 cubes such as the Valk2 or MGC Elite. Users usually describe the feel as smooth, with slight, noticeable resistance. Some also note that the cube is very fast and can corner cut where you didn't want it to. If you prefer a calmer, more controllable 2x2, tightening the screws and giving yourself a moment to get used to it may help.

Mechanism and magnets

• A single column of magnets in each corner. This layout is meant to give you a more precise feel for when a layer snaps into place. The magnets in this version are on the light side.
• Snowflake-type pieces, meaning the interior has grooves where lube spreads well and stays in place.
• Classic screw + spring system. You adjust the tension by tightening or loosening the screws.

Glossy or Ball-Core UV?

The Vin 2x2 is also available in a Ball-Core + UV version. It has magnets between the corners and the core, which help align the layers and add stability, plus a glossy UV coating with stronger grip. The Glossy version has neither Ball-Core nor UV, which makes it simpler and lighter in character. That makes sense if you like free, fast turning without the core additionally "pulling" the layers into place. If you're looking for maximum stability, you should rather consider the Ball-Core variant.

Who is it for?

For someone switching from a non-magnetic cube to their first proper magnetic 2x2 who doesn't want to buy a flagship right away. It will also appeal to cubers who like the classic, fast feel of older 2x2s. It's suitable for a child's first solves too, but with its high speed you have to expect some accidental turns.
