XMD Tornado V3 Premium 3x3 Standard

The Tornado V3 is one of the most popular X-Man Design cubes of recent years. At the turn of 2025 and 2026 it received a refreshed Premium version. The XMD Tornado V3 Premium 3x3 Standard is the base variant of this series: a magnetic 3x3 cube with classic springs, no Ball-Core and no MagLev, with a matte (frosted) surface and no UV coating. It comes in a stickerless bright colour scheme.

What's new in the Premium version

The mechanism stays largely the same as in the Tornado V3, so this is not a completely new design. There are three changes. Dual adjustment now has 8 levels instead of 5. The core is reinforced to reduce cracking, which some users complained about in the previous version. On top of that, according to early reviews, the cube has a slightly more airy feeling.

How it turns

The Tornado V3 is known for light, fast turning and very good corner cutting. The Standard version is the lightest in the series (approx. 68 g), so it shows this character the most. The magnets in the pieces give a clear "click" when layers line up. However, without magnets in the core, the cube self-aligns less than the Flagship and Pioneer versions. If you like a very controlled, stable cube at high TPS, the variant with a magnetic core may suit you better.

Adjustment

• Dual adjustment with 8 settings: one system lets you change spring tension and compression by hand, without tools.
• Magnet strength adjustment with 5 levels, so you can set a stronger or lighter magnetic feel.

Standard, Flagship or Pioneer?

The Standard has magnets in the pieces, springs and matte plastic. The Flagship adds core magnets and a UV coating that offers better grip. The Pioneer also has MagLev instead of springs. The Standard version stands out with its low weight, simpler design and the same adjustment system as the more expensive versions.

Who is it for?

For anyone who wants to move up from a basic cube to a fully fledged speed cube with adjustment. Also for speedcubers who like light, fast cubes and don't need Ball-Core. Thanks to the large number of settings, the cube is also great for experimenting with your setup.
