YJ YuLong 3x3 II M UV is the second generation of the YuLong, YJ's budget series of 3x3 cubes. The letter M in the name stands for the magnetic version. The UV suffix means that the stickerless plastic has a glossy UV coating. The variant we offer comes in the Stickerless Bright colour scheme. It's an affordable magnetic 3x3 cube that brings a feature known from more expensive models at a low price.

What the magnets do

In a magnetic cube, the pieces are gently attracted to each other. As a result, a layer "snaps" into place by itself after a turn, so it's harder to leave it slightly misaligned. When you solve fast, you get fewer lockups and less overshooting than with a non-magnetic cube. This matters most if you're just learning to turn faster. After this first magnetic cube, moving on to more expensive speedcubing models won't require you to change your habits.

To be fair, the YuLong II M doesn't compete with flagship cubes. It has no Ball-Core, no MagLev and no magnet strength adjustment system. It's a simple magnetic 3x3 for learning and everyday solving.

UV version vs. standard version

The mechanism is the same; only the finish differs. The UV coating gives a glossy surface that offers better grip and is also easier to keep clean. The standard version has matte plastic. If you like a stronger grip, choose the UV version. If you prefer a matte surface, go for the standard YuLong II M.

Who is it for?

It's a great first "real" cube for a child, or for an adult who wants to move from a toy-store cube to a speedcubing model without spending a lot. It also works well as a spare cube, for school or to keep in your bag. An advanced speedcuber looking for a competition cube with extensive adjustment options should rather look at higher-end models.
