A budget Megaminx from YuXin in a limited, transparent edition. The Yuxin Little Magic Megaminx V3 uses the same third-generation mechanism as the popular Little Magic series, but this edition has no magnets. The clear plastic lets you see the pieces and the inside of the mechanism, which is why collectors often pick up this model.

How it turns

This is a simple, affordable Megaminx. It doesn't try to be a flagship speedcubing puzzle. The faces are textured, which improves your grip when turning the large layers of the dodecahedron. Straight out of the box, the puzzle can feel stiff and slightly sandy. After adding lube and a short break-in period, the turning becomes noticeably smoother and corner cutting becomes more usable. Without magnets, the layers don't settle into place on their own, so lockups are more likely during fast turning and you need to turn more precisely than on the magnetic version.

Tension adjustment

Tension is adjusted the classic way, with screws and springs under the face centers. This makes it easy to loosen the puzzle for faster turning or tighten it when you want more stability. It's worth setting all 12 faces as evenly as possible, as this makes the puzzle behave predictably.

Transparent or V3 M?

The Little Magic Megaminx V3 series is also available in a magnetic version (V3 M). Magnets help the layers settle into place and make fast, precise turning easier. If you want to practice Megaminx for speed, the magnetic version is usually the better choice. The Transparent version makes sense mainly for its looks. It also works well as an inexpensive Megaminx for relaxed solving and learning.

For puzzle collectors and anyone who wants to try a Megaminx and learn to solve it without spending much. It also makes a great gift for someone who can already solve a 3x3 cube and is looking for the next challenge. For regular speedcubing, magnetic models are usually the choice.
