DianSheng 24 Blocks Snake is a snake puzzle: a chain of 24 triangular segments linked together. Unlike a 3x3 cube, there is no "solved" state you need to return to. You twist the segments against each other and build shapes from them: a ball, animals, geometric figures or your own designs. This model comes in the Mixed color version, so the segments are in different colors.

How a magic snake works

Each segment is a prism with a triangular base. Neighboring pieces rotate around their shared face and click into position every quarter turn. A single move is simple, but with 24 segments you can build a huge number of different figures. You can recreate some of them from ready-made patterns and come up with the rest yourself. The colored segments help you count pieces and find the right spot in a pattern.

A snake isn't made for chasing speed records. It trains spatial imagination and planning your next moves. It's also great for keeping your hands busy when you don't feel like doing another solve.

24 segments vs. other versions

The 24-segment version is the classic snake size and a good place to start. Most popular figure patterns are written for exactly this length. DianSheng also makes longer snakes (e.g. 36, 48 or 72 segments) and an enlarged Big Snake version. Longer snakes let you build more elaborate structures, but they are harder to master at first. You can also combine several snakes of the same length into one large figure.

Who is it for?

It makes a great first puzzle for a child who likes building and inventing things, and an inexpensive addition to a cuber's collection. You don't need to know any algorithms. You can build your first shapes within a few minutes, while more complex figures take more patience.
