DianSheng 48-Block Magic Snake Transparent

DianSheng 48-Block Magic Snake Transparent is a puzzle snake made of 48 segments, twice as long as the classic 24-piece snake. This version is transparent. Unlike a 3x3 cube, the snake has no single "solved" state. The fun is in twisting the segments and building shapes out of them: balls, animals, objects and geometric forms.

How the Magic Snake works

Each segment is a triangular block connected to its neighbours. The segments rotate against each other in quarter-turn steps. The snake holds every position on its own, so a finished shape won't fall apart in your hands. You don't need to know any algorithms. Start with simple shapes, and over time move on to figures that require planning a dozen or so consecutive twists.

48 segments or 24?

The shorter 24-piece snake is easier to master and quicker to work with. The 48-piece version gives you more material to play with. You can build bigger, more complex shapes that a shorter snake simply isn't long enough for. On the other hand, a longer chain is harder to keep under control, and it's easier to get lost. If you've already played with a 24-piece snake, this is the natural next step. Complete beginners can handle it too, though their first shapes may take a little longer.

Transparent version

The segments are made of clear plastic. This makes shapes look lighter than in versions made of coloured, opaque plastic. You can also see how the segments overlap, which makes it easier to recreate a shape from a picture.

Who is it for?

It's a great puzzle for anyone who likes to keep their hands busy but isn't always in the mood to solve a cube. It also makes a good gift for a child who enjoys building and inventing their own shapes. It develops spatial imagination and doesn't require knowing any solving methods. For cubers, it's a nice break from speedcubing.
