GAN 11 Air 3x3x3

GAN 11 Air 3x3x3

GAN 11 Air 3x3x3 is the simplest version of the GAN 11 series. It is based on the GAN 11 M Pro, but it has no magnets at all: there are no magnets between the pieces and no magnets in the core. Instead of the dual adjustment system of the M Pro, it uses classic GES nuts that you set by hand. As a result, the cube weighs only about 50 g and is one of the lightest full-size 3x3 cubes from GAN.

How it turns

The cube is very light and turns smoothly and quietly. Users often praise it for one-handed solving (OH). The manufacturer specifies 55° corner cutting and 35° reverse corner cutting. In practice, opinions on corner cutting are mixed, and some cubers rate it lower than in the magnetic versions of the 11 series. Without magnets, the cube doesn't snap layers into place on its own. You need to turn more precisely, and fast, less accurate turning makes overshooting and lockups more likely. Some users also report popping after extended use. Tightening the GES nuts usually helps.

Adjustment and design

• Hand-adjustable GES nuts: no tool needed, with several fixed tension settings.
• Integrated Feet Design: a GAN 11 series feature which, according to the manufacturer, improves stability during fast turning.
• Matte (frosted) surface that hides fingerprints and scratches well.

11 Air or a magnetic version?

The 11 M, 11 M Duo and 11 M Pro have magnets, so they are more stable and easier to control at high TPS. Most speedcubers today choose magnetic cubes. The 11 Air makes sense if you deliberately prefer a non-magnetic cube that is as light as possible, want a spare cube for OH, or are looking for a simple first GAN cube for a child. It can be used in competitions without any restrictions.
