GAN Lube v1 (10 ml)

GAN Lube v1 is a low-viscosity silicone cube lube sold in a 10 ml bottle. You apply it to the cube pieces and layer surfaces, where the pieces rub against each other with every move. It reduces friction, so the cube turns more smoothly and the plastic wears down more slowly. It works with cubes from any manufacturer, not just GAN, as well as with other puzzles.

How GAN Lube v1 works

This lube is mainly meant for routine maintenance. It comes in handy when your cube starts to feel dry, scratchy or louder than before. A few drops usually bring back smooth turning. It doesn't change the character of the cube much, though, so it won't turn a controllable cube into a very fast one or the other way round. For regular maintenance that's actually an advantage, because after lubing your cube behaves much like it did before.

How to lube your cube

• Less is more. GAN recommends 1-2 drops per contact surface. For a full lube job, a few drops for the whole cube are usually enough.
• After applying the lube, do a few dozen turns on all layers so the lube spreads evenly.
• Too much lube can slow the cube down and make it feel sticky. It's better to add another drop later than to overdo it the first time.
• The bottle has a child-resistant cap: press it down firmly and only then turn it to the left. It won't unscrew without pressing down.

Who is it for?

For anyone who wants to look after their cube regularly, from someone with their first magnetic cube to a speedcuber with several mains. 10 ml is quite a lot for cube lube, since a single lube job takes just a few drops. One bottle will last you a long time, even with several cubes. For a bigger change in feel, i.e. making the cube noticeably faster or slower, a lube with a different viscosity is a better choice.
