GAN Pyraminx M Enhanced

The GAN Pyraminx M Enhanced is the most fully equipped version of GAN's magnetic Pyraminx, released in 2020. It was the first mass-produced Pyraminx with magnets between the core and the edges. This means the pieces are pulled towards the centre of the puzzle, not just towards each other. In the Enhanced version, GAN also added magnets in the pieces themselves, and the box includes a full set of GES v4 springs.

How it turns

Reviewers describe the turning as very smooth and stable. Much of that smoothness comes from GAN's signature honeycomb structure on the pieces. These small recesses reduce friction and help spread the lube evenly. The magnets clearly snap the layers into place, so every move has a noticeable "click" and the puzzle aligns itself. Corner cutting is generous. Some users point out that the matte plastic offers fairly weak grip at first, which matters on a Pyraminx, as this puzzle tends to slip out of your hands anyway.

Magnets and GES v4 tension adjustment

• Core-edge magnetic positioning: magnets in the core and in the edge feet that position the layers relative to the centre.
• Magnets in the pieces: between the edges and the centres, and in the tips. These are exactly what the Standard and Explorer versions lack.
• Four GES v4 sets with different elasticity: purple 1.8 N, blue 2.1 N, green 2.5 N and yellow 3.4 N. The higher the value, the stiffer the spring and the tighter the feel.

Standard, Explorer or Enhanced?

All three versions share the same body and core-edge magnets. The Standard comes with one factory-installed GES set. The Explorer adds extra interchangeable GES springs. The Enhanced has everything the Explorer has, plus magnets in the pieces, which makes it noticeably more "snappy" and stable. Some users find the magnets in the Standard version barely noticeable. If you want a stronger, more magnetic feel, go for the Enhanced.

Who is it for?

For cubers who practise Pyraminx for speed and want to match the spring stiffness to their turning style. The puzzle is legal for official WCA competitions. It also works well as a first Pyraminx, although the cheaper Standard version is enough for learning to solve.
