MoYu MeiLong Corner Twist Pyramid is a simple pyramid-shaped puzzle from the MeiLong line by MoFangJiaoShi (Cubing Classroom), MoYu's budget brand. It looks similar to a Pyraminx, but it has no edges. Only the 4 corners move, and they rotate in place. Just turn each of them so the colors on the faces match, and the pyramid is solved.

How to solve it

The corners never swap places, so you don't need to know any algorithms. If you can solve a Pyraminx or a 3x3 cube, you'll solve this one in a few seconds. For a child or an adult who has never held a puzzle cube, though, it isn't always obvious. A typical mistake is setting one corner after another without checking how it fits with the rest. That's exactly what this little pyramid teaches: you have to look at the whole shape and match the colors on neighboring faces.

The corners turn lightly, without much resistance. The model has no magnets and isn't designed for fast solving. It's a puzzle for learning and fun, not speedcubing hardware.

MeiLong pyramid series

The Corner Twist Pyramid belongs to MoYu's pyramid series, which also includes the Bead, Maple Leaf, Windmill, Boomerang and Triangle Pyramid, among others. They all look similar but have different mechanisms. The Corner Twist is the simplest of them, so it's a good place to start before moving on to the harder models in the series or to the classic Pyraminx.

As a first puzzle for a young child, a small gift, or another piece in your collection of Pyraminx modifications. It won't challenge an experienced cuber, but it's an interesting addition to the pyramid family in a collection.
