MoYu Meilong Windmill Pyramid

MoYu Meilong Windmill Pyramid is a pyramid-shaped puzzle that looks like a Pyraminx but works differently. Instead of turning whole layers, you grab one corner and twist it, and the three pieces next to it turn along with it. This model belongs to the 2020 series of pastel Meilong pyramids released by MoFangJiaoShi (Cubing Classroom), MoYu's budget brand. This version comes in the Macaron colour scheme: pastel colours, stickerless.

How it differs from a regular Pyraminx

On a classic Pyraminx, whole layers and tips turn. On the Windmill, every move is a rotation around a corner. The faces also have extra centre pieces that move during turns and need to be put back in place. According to people who have solved it, the centres are solved in a similar way to the Master Pyraminx. Its shape resembles a Halpern-Meier Tetrahedron with only the edges left. If you already know the Pyraminx, you'll have to change the way you think, but logic and a bit of patience are enough to solve it, with no long algorithms.

How it turns

The pieces give a clear "click" when they snap into place, so you can easily feel when a move is complete. The surface is matte and smooth. Some users say it's a little slippery, which isn't a problem for a puzzle of this type. This is not a speedcubing puzzle and it is not a WCA event. People buy it to solve a new challenge, add it to their collection or simply to fidget with.
