QiYi Magnetic Number Sliding Klotski 7x7 is a large number sliding puzzle. It works on the same principle as the classic 15 puzzle, only on a much bigger scale. The 7x7 board has 48 numbered panels and one empty space. You slide the tiles one at a time and arrange them in order, from the lowest to the highest number. The manufacturer released this model in 2020.

How it differs from smaller sliding puzzles

On a 3x3 or 4x4, a good solve can take just a few seconds to a dozen or so. The 7x7 has 48 pieces, so a solve takes noticeably longer and you need to keep a closer eye on the order of your moves. The method is the same as for the 15 puzzle: first you solve the top rows, then the columns in the last two rows. If you already know a smaller sliding puzzle, you can apply the same approach to the 7x7 without learning from scratch. The bigger size is also great practice for planning several moves ahead.

Magnets instead of guide rails

The panels are held in the frame by magnets. They don't fall out during fast sliding, and you don't have to push them through tight grooves like in cheap plastic sliding puzzles. This matters especially for timed attempts, because loose or sticking tiles are a typical problem with ordinary sliding puzzles.
