Vin Cube 4x4x4 UV Coated is a magnetic 4x4 cube. It was designed by Haixu Zhang, a former 4x4 world record holder. The model is often described as an evolution of the YJ MGC 4x4, so if you felt comfortable on the MGC, you should get used to the Vin quickly. In this version the plastic has a UV coating, and the colour scheme is stickerless bright.

How it turns

The cube has a smooth feeling. There is quite a lot of space between the corners and the centers, which helps with corner cutting. When a layer isn't perfectly aligned, the turn usually still goes through instead of ending in a lockup. This matters a lot on a 4x4, because you turn the inner layers very often. The magnets help the layers settle into place, making it easier to stay in control during faster turning and edge pairing.

What the UV coating gives you

The UV surface is glossy and grips your fingers better than regular matte plastic. Many people prefer this kind of grip on a 4x4, where a lot of moves are done with two layers at once. The coating also protects the plastic from wear. The stickerless version has no stickers, so nothing can peel off or shift.

Which Vin 4x4 version?

The first generation of the Vin 4x4 comes in a standard version (no UV), a UV version (this one) and an M-BallCore UV version, which also has magnets in the core and is a few grams heavier. This cube does not have a Ball-Core. Also, don't confuse it with the newer Vin 4x4 V2 series (Apex, Surge, Sprint). That is a separate design: smaller, at approx. 58 mm, and with a different magnet layout.

Who is it for?

For someone moving from 3x3 to 4x4 who wants a magnetic cube with good corner cutting right away, rather than the cheapest non-magnetic model. It's also a good fit for cubers who liked the MGC 4x4 or want a solid 4x4 without spending money on the latest flagship. If you need magnets in the core and a more "controlled" feel, consider the M-BallCore UV version or the V2 series.
