VinCube 3x3 Racer Ball Core UV

The Racer is the middle version of the VinCube 3x3, the first 3x3 cube from Vin Cube. The series comes in three versions: Lite, Racer and Nova. The VinCube 3x3 Racer Ball Core UV is a magnetic speed cube with Ball-Core, classic springs and a UV coating. It has most of the features of the flagship Nova, but without MagLev.

Lite, Racer or Nova?

All three versions are 55.5 mm in size and have the same adjustment range. They differ in magnets, turning system and finish:

• Lite has 48 magnets, springs and a matte (frosted) surface. It has no Ball-Core.
• Racer has 64 magnets, including Ball-Core magnets, springs and a UV coating.
• Nova has 88 magnets, Ball-Core and a UV coating. Instead of springs, it uses MagLev, i.e. repelling magnets.

The Racer makes sense if you want the stability that Ball-Core provides but prefer the more predictable feel of springs over MagLev. It is also cheaper than the Nova.

Ball-Core and solving performance

In Ball-Core, the magnets work between the corners and the core of the cube. They help the layers settle into place and stabilize the cube during fast turning, so overshooting is easier to avoid. The classic magnets in the pieces give a clear "click" with every move.

Reviews of the whole VinCube 3x3 series often mention that the cube feels dry and sandy out of the box. That's why many cubers start by lubing it and adjusting the tension. With looser setups, users also mention corner twisting, so it's better not to start with the loosest setup.

Adjustment

The Racer has 8 tension levels and 8 compression levels, giving 128 setting combinations. On top of that, there is the CFRS system, which changes the turning feel: from crisper to more stable and solid. This lets you set up the cube more for speed or more for control.

Who is it for?

For cubers who already have their first magnetic cube and want a more advanced build with Ball-Core and a wide range of adjustment. The Racer also suits those who don't like MagLev or don't want to pay extra for it. For complete beginners, the Lite version is simpler and usually enough to get started.
