WitEden 3x3x8 Cuboid Cube

A puzzle with a 3x3 cross-section stretched to 8 layers, so it looks more like a tower than a cube. The WitEden 3x3x8 Cuboid is a cuboid that does not change shape while you solve it (non-shapeshifting). After every valid move, it returns to its rectangular box shape. The version we offer is stickerless, in a bright colour scheme.

How the 3x3x8 cuboid turns

The square 3x3 faces and all layers parallel to them turn normally, by 90 degrees, just like on a regular 3x3. The long side faces can only be turned by 180 degrees. Otherwise the cube would lose its shape, and its construction doesn't allow that. That's why you have to think differently than on an NxN. Some moves you make automatically on a regular cube are simply impossible here.

Reviewers consider this puzzle challenging. According to users, it's easier to understand if you can already solve a 3x3x4. The method is similar, there are just more steps because there are twice as many layers. Some catching between pieces can occur, but the cube holds together well. This is not a speedcube. What matters here is the solve itself, not TPS.

Who is it for?

For cubers who have already mastered the 3x3 and want to try something beyond the standard NxN puzzles. Ideally after a few smaller cuboids, e.g. the 3x3x4 or 3x3x5. The 3x3x8 also looks great in a puzzle collection, as its elongated shape catches the eye straight away. It's not suitable as a first cube. If you're buying a gift for a child who is just learning, a classic 3x3 will be a better choice.
