YJ MGC Beta 3x3

YJ MGC Beta 3x3 (also known as MGC3 Beta) is a new line of magnetic cubes from YJ. It has a new mechanism, not just a refreshed shell from the previous MGC models. Our shop offers the base version: magnets in the pieces (edge-corner), spring-based tension adjustment, glossy plastic and a stickerless bright colour scheme. It has no core magnets, no MagLev and no UV coating. Those features come with the more expensive versions of the Beta.

How it turns

Distributors and users describe the Beta as a cube with balanced magnet strength, good corner cutting and a comfortable, rounded shape. It isn't extremely fast or very tight, so most people should get used to it quickly. One note: most reviews cover the version with core magnets. Without them, the cube has a less noticeable auto-alignment effect and feels more flexible than the Ball-Core versions.

Out of the box, some cubes have noisier springs and slightly scratchy turning. Lubing and a short break-in period usually help.

Adjustment

The Beta has dual spring-based adjustment. You set tension and compression separately, so you can tune the cube more for speed or more for control. The factory setup can be loose, so it's worth checking it before your first serious solves.

Which MGC Beta version?

• Base version (this cube): magnets in the pieces only, springs, glossy plastic without UV. The simplest and most affordable Beta, with the same mechanism as the other versions.
• Ball-Core UV: adds core magnets, which help layers snap into place and keep the cube stable during fast turning, plus a UV coating with better grip.
• Ball-Core UV MagLev: on top of that, magnetic repulsion instead of springs, giving lighter and faster turning.

So the differences lie in the extras, not in the mechanism design itself.

Who is it for?

It's a good choice for your first quality magnetic cube and for a daily practice cube when you don't need core magnets or MagLev. Choose it also if you prefer a more flexible, less "clicky" 3x3. If you like layers that snap firmly into place and high stability at high TPS, the Ball-Core version will suit you better.
