YJ MGC Beta 3x3 Maglev Ball Core UV (limited edition)

YJ MGC Beta 3x3 MagLev Ball-Core UV (limited edition)

MGC Beta is YJ's new line of flagship cubes with a new mechanism, launched in 2025. This limited edition is based on the top-spec version of the model. YJ MGC Beta 3x3 MagLev Ball-Core UV (limited edition) has MagLev instead of springs, magnets in the core and a UV coating. What sets it apart from the regular version is its transparent plastic body. It comes in two colors: Green and Pink.

How it turns

Reviewers and users describe the Beta as a fast cube that still stays controllable. The magnets are well balanced and the corner cutting is good. The cube sits comfortably in the hand and behaves predictably during fast turning. If you prefer weaker magnets, you may find them fairly strong, especially for one-handed solving. According to some reviews, the cube comes rather loose out of the box, so it's worth tightening it right away and lubing it to suit your style.

MagLev, Ball-Core and UV in practice

• MagLev: instead of metal springs, the layers are held in place by repelling magnets. This makes turning lighter and quieter, and the cube doesn't have the typical "springy" sound.
• Magnetic Ball-Core: the magnets in the core help the layers settle into place and stabilize the cube when you turn fast.
• UV Coated: a glossy coating that grips your fingers better than matte plastic.
• Honeycomb internal structure: according to the manufacturer, it reduces friction and helps spread the lube evenly.

How do the MGC Beta versions differ?

The model comes in several versions. The basic magnetic version has springs and no core magnets. The Ball-Core UV version adds core magnets and a UV coating but still uses springs. Only the MagLev Ball-Core UV is fully equipped. According to distributors, the limited edition uses the same setup as the regular MagLev Ball-Core UV. It differs mainly in its transparent plastic and in being available only for a limited time. If you only care about the mechanism and not the looks, the regular MagLev Ball-Core UV version will perform the same.

Who is it for?

For cubers who want the MGC Beta in its full version and, at the same time, in a color that isn't part of the standard range. It also works well as a collector's cube. For a child's first cube, the basic magnetic version is more than enough.
