The successor to the popular YuHu V2, with a redesigned mechanism and core and a smaller body (edge approx. 30.6 mm). The standard spring-based magnetic version, without MagLev and Ball-Core, with easily removable center caps for tension adjustment.

For years, the YuHu V2 was one of the most frequently recommended budget magnetic megaminxes. After almost six years, YJ has released its successor. The YJ YuHu Megaminx V3 M is a magnetic megaminx in the standard version, meaning it is spring-based, without MagLev and without Ball-Core. It is not just a light facelift of the V2. The manufacturer redesigned the mechanism and the core and also made the puzzle smaller, so your fingers have less distance to travel between moves.
Cubers who compare both models usually describe the V3 as a clear step up from the V2. The puzzle is fast and light in the hand, and the feel is more crunchy than buttery. The magnets are medium strength. They give a noticeable snap when a layer lines up, which helps reduce overshooting on a dodecahedron. Some cubers, however, prefer a stronger "click" and find the magnets a bit too weak. Reviews also mention catching, especially with imprecise turning straight out of the box. Adjusting the tension and lubing usually helps.
The YuHu V3 also comes in a more expensive version with MagLev and a magnetic Ball-Core. There, the springs are replaced with magnets, and additional magnets in the core increase stability. The M version has a classic spring setup and offers more traditional, predictable behavior. It is more than enough for learning and regular practice, and the biggest difference will come from setting the screws properly.
For someone just starting out with the megaminx who wants a magnetic puzzle with a solid mechanism right away. It is also a good choice for a cuber who owns the YuHu V2 and is looking for a newer, smaller design without paying extra for MagLev. If you like strong magnets and a very stable feel, consider the Ball-Core version.
